Joel MacDonald
Resident Faculty
-Born in Saskatoon, and recently appointed Principal Cellist of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Joel MacDonald is a cellist who who enjoys teaching students of all ages at the Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts. Previously he was a cello teaching artist at Sistema New Brunswick and a classroom music teacher in the UK. In Saskatchewan he has performed with the Saskatoon and Regina symphonies and Prairie Virtuosi, and has also played with the National Academy Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Tutta Musica, and the YOA Orchestra of the Americas. A graduate of YOA’s Global Leaders Program, Joel participated in musical outreach projects in Canada, the USA, Puerto Rico, and Haiti. Joel has a degree in music education from the University of Regina where he studied with Simon Fyer and also graduated from the University of Saskatchewan.
